Question 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Conventions are certain things in media products that make them acceptable and recognised. For example, mastheads, coverlines, date lines etc. The genre of my magazine is pop/rock. My influences for my media product are kerrang and smash hits.

My cover: I followed the conventions through my masthead (title), date line, use of a slogan, a barcode etc. The name "Euphonic" connotes music, it is a word used to describe some thing that "pleases the ear", it refers to the choice of music represented by the magazine. I used an extreme close up for my front page image, this was done so that potential customers, recognise the singer/ covergirl/boy. The masthead font represents the genre of the magazine, ie rock/pop mixed together. My magazine suggests the music genre through use of colour, font, cover star etc.

My contents page: I used another extreme close up image on my contents page to give an insight as to what is in the magazine. The written content, is informal ad short, a list is used to give page numbers and whats on them. I have included both regular features and exclusive features, this is to make sure i keep the theme going.

My double page spread: I chose to do a double page spread on a popular singer, that is recognised internationally. I used a mid shot for my image, I did this, to give the reader a glimpse of the outfit, I am co-promoting through the magazine.
